La France Walk
Project Overview
This thoughtfully designed community is a remarkable example of modern craftsmanship and forward-thinking urban planning, developed by KUA (Kronberg Urbanists Architects) with a deep commitment to walkability, inclusivity, and resilience. Located in the vibrant Edgewood neighborhood of Atlanta, the project reflects over fifteen years of market research and addresses the growing demand for car-optional, intown residential options. Designed to support a sustainable, connected lifestyle, it stands as a model for urban living in response to Atlanta's surging population.
The community features a variety of homes, including single-family residences, duplexes, and attached accessory dwelling units (ADUs), providing a range of housing choices and price points. The inclusion of ADUs offers homeowners flexible spaces that can serve as guest suites, home offices, or income-generating rental properties, equipped with their own kitchenette and full bathroom for added functionality.
Architecturally, the homes are a perfect blend of timeless design and modern aesthetics. Exteriors feature classic gabled roofs, bright, inviting color palettes, and clean lines, complemented by thoughtful details like spacious front porches and manicured landscaping. Prioritizing walkability, the community includes pathways and green spaces that foster connection among neighbors while reducing reliance on cars. Proximity to a nearby rail station enhances the car-optional lifestyle, minimizing the need for parking and maximizing the efficient use of space.
Inside, the homes are designed with open-concept layouts that emphasize natural light and flow. Kitchens serve as the heart of each home, featuring large islands, sleek countertops, stainless steel appliances, and custom cabinetry that blend functionality with style. Bathrooms offer spa-like retreats with walk-in showers, freestanding tubs, and elegant fixtures, while generously sized bedrooms provide comfortable sanctuaries.
Additional touches such as built-in shelving, modern fireplaces, and thoughtfully crafted outdoor spaces, including patios and decks, add character and usability to each property. Recognized for its innovation and design, this community earned a Charter Award from the Congress for the New Urbanism in 2018 and a Design of Excellence Award from ULI in 2019.
Developed by KUA (Kronberg Urbanists Architects), this community represents the future of intown living—a blend of sustainable design, modern functionality, and thoughtful planning to create a vibrant, resilient neighborhood that meets the needs of a growing urban population.
